DRINK WATER. It is very important that you come to your appointment hydrated. Drink lots of water two days before, the day of, and the day after your appointment. Electrolysis works by using the water content in the follicle so the more hydrated you are the less it hurts. You will also get a better treatment as dehydrated follicles are much more difficult to treat.
TRIM HAIR. Please trim (not shave) the area. We need ⅛-½ inch of hair growth to properly treat hair.
PAIN RELIEVER. Although most clients do not need anything, if you find that you are more sensitive to the treatments you can try a few things. Taking a pain reliever (pain killer not anti inflammatory) thirty minutes before your appointment. A topical anesthetic cream such as
4%-5% lidocaine, BLT cream may also be applied to the area at least 20 minutes prior to your appointment. To improve the effectiveness of the numbing cream, make sure the area is CLEAN and DRY then cover the area with saran wrap. Anesthetic creams can be found over the counter or by prescription from your healthcare provider.
Hygiene. Clean skin is easier to treat as lotions can plug up follicles so please come freshly showered. In the case of uncleanliness, your electrologist will kindly ask to reschedule your appointment. Your electrologist has the right to refuse services and you will be charged in full for the missed appointment.
Caffeine. Avoid stimulants such as coffee 2 hours prior to your appointment. This could make you more sensitive to pain. We want you to have the best experience possible.
AVOID SUN. Avoid sun exposure 24 hours prior to your treatment and 48 hours after. If avoiding sun is not possible ensure you wear SPF to avoid any hyper/hypo pigmentation
Skin Care products. Do not use Retin A, Glycolic Acid, AHA or Differin for at least 3-4 days prior to your electrolysis treatment and 48 hours after. Accutane should be discontinued for at least 6 months prior to electrolysis.
