What is Electrolysis?2024-01-12T12:42:38-07:00

Electrolysis is the only form of hair removal that is proven to be permanent. Electrolysis is safe, permanent and effective on all hair and skin types. Electrolysis is also the only method approved by the FDA for permanent hair removal. There are a couple different types of Electrolysis. The “original” type of electrolysis is called galvanic. Galvanic is a long wave length, when the current enters the follicle it mixes with your bodies moisture and salt to create lye. The lye is what kills the follicle and stops the hair from growing.

The second type of electrolysis is thermolysis. Thermolysis is a short wave length. It creates heat and the heat is what kills the follicle. The third option “blend” it is a blend of both the galvanic and thermolysis. This method uses the galvanic at the start of the treatment and ends with a small amount of the thermolysis at the end of the treatment. All three methods have a specific type of hair that they work best on, so during your consultation we will review these and determine which one will be best for you and give you the best results.

Does the treatment hurt?2024-01-13T13:01:17-07:00

Most clients experience no sensitivity or discomfort due to our all-natural laser gel. A small percentage may feel temporary sensitivity if they consume very cold/hot items soon after treatment. We offer solutions for those concerned about sensitivity.

How does electrolysis work?2024-01-12T12:42:38-07:00

A licensed professional Electrologist inserts a probe into the natural opening of the hair follicle. The probe is roughly the size of the hair to be treated and is not typically felt by the client. Then a small electric current is transmitted directly into the follicle, this current whether galvanic, thermolysis or blend is what we use to destroy the follicle and the blood supply that causes hair to grow. Destroying the follicle is what makes Electrolysis a permanent solution.

Will it work on crowns and fillings?2024-01-13T13:01:30-07:00

Yes, DaVinci teeth whitening can remove stains from dental work, returning it to its original color and matching it with your natural teeth for an even smile. We cannot whiten beyond the original color of the material used in your dental work.

How should I prep for my electrolysis appointment?2024-01-12T12:42:38-07:00

DRINK WATER. It is very important that you come to your appointment hydrated. Drink lots of water two days before, the day of, and the day after your appointment. Electrolysis works by using the water content in the follicle so the more hydrated you are the less it hurts. You will also get a better treatment as dehydrated follicles are much more difficult to treat.

TRIM HAIR. Please trim (not shave) the area. We need ⅛-½ inch of hair growth to properly treat hair.

PAIN RELIEVER. Although most clients do not need anything, if you find that you are more sensitive to the treatments you can try a few things. Taking a pain reliever (pain killer not anti inflammatory) thirty minutes before your appointment. A topical anesthetic cream such as
4%-5% lidocaine, BLT cream may also be applied to the area at least 20 minutes prior to your appointment. To improve the effectiveness of the numbing cream, make sure the area is CLEAN and DRY then cover the area with saran wrap. Anesthetic creams can be found over the counter or by prescription from your healthcare provider.

Hygiene. Clean skin is easier to treat as lotions can plug up follicles so please come freshly showered. In the case of uncleanliness, your electrologist will kindly ask to reschedule your appointment. Your electrologist has the right to refuse services and you will be charged in full for the missed appointment.

Caffeine. Avoid stimulants such as coffee 2 hours prior to your appointment. This could make you more sensitive to pain. We want you to have the best experience possible.

AVOID SUN. Avoid sun exposure 24 hours prior to your treatment and 48 hours after. If avoiding sun is not possible ensure you wear SPF to avoid any hyper/hypo pigmentation

Skin Care products. Do not use Retin A, Glycolic Acid, AHA or Differin for at least 3-4 days prior to your electrolysis treatment and 48 hours after. Accutane should be discontinued for at least 6 months prior to electrolysis.
